These trifles are an ideal Christmas dessert. You can easily make them in advance, they look very festive and are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.
I love the combination of brownies and cherries, but feel free to use raspberries instead. And these trifles are perfect if you use homemade brownies, but even with store-bought ones they will taste absolutely delicious. Or use chocolate cake, if you prefer. Not a fan of chocolate? Use crumbled meringues for a pretty variation on a traditional Eton Mess.
1 + 1/3 cup (375 gr.) cherries (canned or freezed)
¾ cup (200 ml) cream
½ cup (120 gr.) mascarpone
- Break the brownies into little pieces and divide them over four glasses. Add the cherries.
- Whip the cream until stiff peaks form. Carefully mix in the mascarpone.
- Divide the cream mixture on top of the cherries and sprinkle over some brownie crumbs, if you like.
- Put the trifles in the fridge to firm up a little, or serve straight away.
