Chicken Caesar Sliders

Sliders are definitely not as common here as in the US, so I was more than happy when ‘De Burgermeester’ started in Amsterdam. They offer delicious and good-quality burgers and mini slider versions for customers (like me) who can’t just pick one.

I like to come up with my own slider versions too and was inspired by all the variations I saw the last few weeks. Ever since the Superbowl season started, there were sliders everywhere: from buffalo chicken to meatball marinara.

When I was making a quick Caesar salad (with a very easy, lick-your-fingers dressing) last week, I imagined that this salad would be great combined with grilled chicken as a slider. And it turned out to be a delicious version indeed. These sliders are easy to prepare, can be eaten hold or cold and are suitable for both laid back TV-dinners or stylish parties.

This dressing may not be the original Caesar dressing, it’s way faster to make and just as good (if not better). You can add cooked egg and/or bacon to the sliders, but I like them exactly this way.

  • lettuce leaves
  • For the Caesar dressing:
  • 6-9 anchovies

  1. Season the chicken breasts and brush with olive oil.
  2. Grill chicken until done. Cut in slices.
  3. Spread half of the Caesar dressing on each bun, add lettuce leaves and grilled chicken.
  4. Add shaved parmesan and remaining Caesar dressing. Cover with upper halves and serve.
  5. To make the dressing:
  6. In a small bowl crush the cloves of garlic with a fork. Remove most of the garlic pieces from the bowl.
  7. Finely chop the anchovies and add them to the bowl.
  8. Add the mayonnaise, lemon juice and Worcester sauce.
  9. Add water to thin a little and salt & pepper to taste.
